This workshop focuses on helping families identify and connect with local educational agencies and community resources designed to support students with disabilities. Participants will learn about available programs, funding opportunities, and the services provided by these agencies. Additionally, this session will highlight how to collaborate effectively with agency representatives to secure the best outcomes for their children.

IEP Workshop

This in-depth workshop is tailored to help parents and guardians navigate the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. Families will gain an understanding of their child’s educational rights, the structure of an IEP, and how to advocate effectively during meetings. Practical exercises, such as role-playing IEP meetings, will help participants build confidence in requesting appropriate accommodations and services.

Parent Training: OT | PT | Speech | Behavioral

This interactive session brings together therapists specializing in occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), speech therapy, and behavioral support to guide families in understanding therapeutic goals and techniques. Parents will receive practical training to reinforce therapy strategies at home, such as motor-skill exercises, speech development activities, and behavioral interventions. This workshop also provides a platform for Q&A with therapists to address specific concerns.

Health: Medical | Dental | Hospital

This workshop demystifies healthcare navigation for families with special needs. It covers finding medical providers specializing in disabilities, understanding medical diagnoses, and completing necessary paperwork. Sessions will also touch on dental care tips and working with hospitals to ensure smooth appointments and procedures. Families will gain tools to communicate effectively with medical professionals and advocate for tailored healthcare solutions.

Safety: First Responder | Emergency Preparedness

This workshop is designed to prepare families for emergencies and ensure safety for individuals with disabilities. Families will learn how to communicate their child's unique needs to first responders, create emergency kits, and develop personalized evacuation plans. First responders will participate in the session to demonstrate safety practices and provide guidance on emergency preparedness tailored to special needs.

Travel: Airlines | Rail | Boat | Bus

This workshop focuses on simplifying travel logistics for families of individuals with disabilities. Participants will learn how to navigate the accessibility policies of airlines, rail services, boats, and buses. The session will also cover tips for preparing children with disabilities for travel, including sensory accommodations, necessary documentation, and travel-specific medical needs.

Vacation: Hotel | Rental

This workshop helps families plan vacations that accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities. Topics include selecting disability-friendly accommodations, requesting specific services (e.g., accessible rooms or dietary accommodations), and preparing for extended stays. Families will also receive a curated list of hotels, vacation rentals, and destinations known for their inclusivity.
